The Lighthouse Choir Presents “Songs for a Winter’s Night,”
Sunday December 13 from 4-5pm, doors open at 3:30pm;
St. Paul’s United Church 2410 Malaview Ave., Sidney
In such unsettled times, Artistic Director Ashley Wey and her spirited singers offer you a safe harbour of afternoon music, one celebrating the warmth, reflection and joy of the winter season. As “book ends,” Gordon Lightfoot’s iconic “Song for a Winter’s Night” will begin the show and Lady Antebellum’s “This Winter’s Night” will complete the journey. In between, a wide range of musical gifts will include Canadian, classical, and contemporary songs, from composers as diverse as Joni Mitchell, the Beatles and Franz Schubert. And as is Lighthouse’s tradition, they’ll celebrate our community’s deep relationship with the waters surrounding the Saanich Peninsula with two songs of the sea.

Absolutely! As each session progresses, we will add a couple arrangements with include solo sections where individuals or small groups can shine while supported by the full choir.

We've got you covered! During rehearsals, we pair notation readers with those who don't read music. Additionally, all music is distributed before the first rehearsal in both written notation and through our online playback system, giving you time to familiarize yourself with the pieces at home.
