CHILDREN’S MINISTRY CO-ORDINATOR
St Paul’s United Church, Sidney
Start Date: 1st October 2019

Hours: 25 hours per month; 10 months per year (September – June); flexible hours to begin on 1st October 2019
Pay: $20.00 / hour ($5000 / year), reviewable after 3 months
Part-time salaried position - Term for 1 year; review after 3 months
The Work:

Weekly Children’s Spiritual Growth programme
-
Build and develop a weekly children’s programme at St Paul’s for children age 0-12
-
Work with and supervise our nursery workers
-
Build relationships with families of children
-
Help to draw in children from the local community to be part of the children’s spiritual growth programme

Plan and prepare materials for children’s programme on Sundays

Build team of volunteers and provide training & leadership & resources
-
Provide leadership of the children’s programme on a Sunday
2. Messy Church
-
Organise a Messy Church event once a month
-
Work with the minister to plan themes for the ten-month period, collect materials & resources
-
Gather volunteer leaders
-
Prepare & plan for the event

Lead event with leaders
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Christian Development training and/or experience related to children, youth program development.

Experience working in leadership roles with children and/or youth programs.
-
Familiarity and comfort with United Church of Canada theology and setting.

Excellent interpersonal skills with people of all ages

Excellent organizational and coordination skills
-
Ability to work independently
Working Conditions:
-
Requires attendance at St Paul’s on most Sundays between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Occasional evening and weekend hours for children’s activities

Flexibility in hours worked throughout the week, dependent on needs
Reporting Relationships:
-
Work under the supervision of the ministry and as part of a ministry team

Accountable to the Spiritual Growth Committee and to Ministry & Personnel Committee
