We know that it is not easy to go to a church for the first time. Sometimes people have been to other churches, or have not been to church for some time but we want to assure you of our friendship and support as you take your first steps into this congregation.
When you arrive on a Sunday:
When you come into the church you will find our Greeters at the door ready to welcome you. Please feel free to sit anywhere you choose, - there is no reserved seating in the church. If you would like to first have a cup of coffee or tea, these are served for about 30 minutes before the service starts at the back of the church.
Who can worship here?
Everyone is welcome here! You don’t have to be a member or join the church to be welcome. You may come once, or you may come when you can. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, history or church affiliation.
What about children?
Though we do not currently have a Sunday School we welcome children in worship! We provide childcare during worship for infants (0-4 years) in our childcare room. Older children may either sit with their families or go to the Kid’s Corner where they will find a table with crafts, colouring-in and puzzles to help keep them occupied during the service. We seek to provide a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children.
We usually give each person an Order of Service which will outline the service, - showing you which hymns we will be singing and prayers that we will be using. We invite the congregation to participate in the prayers and some readings by sharing in the responses. We also use project our hymns and other elements of worship onto the screen in the church which encourages everyone to participate more fully. Our choir sings in worship led by Jannie Burdetti, our Music Director.
You’ll find that most people wear nametags which they pick up at church on a Sunday morning. These help us all to get to know each other. You are very welcome to request a name-tag.
The money offering is an important part of worship for Christians. It is a response to God’s blessing, an act of generosity and an important way to make a difference in the world. The money given goes to support the ministry of St Paul’s, several outreach projects as well as United Church programs across Canada and throughout the world.
After the service we invite everyone into the Fellowship Hall where our Hospitality Committee has prepared a wonderful spread. We would be so glad if you could stay and share with us.
